Health insurance, pre existing conditions?!

Question: when health insurance companies have waiting periods for pre existing conditions, does that mean obesity? Is that considered a pre existing condition?

No, insurance companies don't consider obesity as a pre-existing condition. However, each company has a height and weight guide. You may be charged extra or you may be declined. Some companies will allow extra weight as you get older while others have the same guidelines for everyone over 18. In my area if you are a male, 6'0" and 240 pounds you would be declined with a couple of companies, accepted with standard rates with a couple and accepted with a premium increase with others.

If you do have other health conditions obesity can have a bearing upon whether the insurance company will accept you or not. For example, you can have high blood pressure and "normal" weight and be accepted by the insurance company while someone with the same blood pressure readings who is also obese would be declined even if they were within the guidelines.

For more information you should contact a local independent agent. The agent has access to the height and weight guidelines and can help you find the best company for your situation and budget.

Pre-existing conditions are lik asthma, surgeries, or things you have had previously or prior to filing insurance.

Yes, insurance always requests your weight on the application, and if you are over what the limit on weight that is taken into account --definitely because there are so many things asociated with it like hi blood pressure, cholestorl, or diabetes and so forth. Even if you don't put down accurate weight,--not saying you are lying it will come up after an exam and they could get you on it.

I had pre-exstng conditions and I was paying $300 a month just for insurance and $20 for a visit, cannot afford it.

Yes, it could be considered as a pre existing condition, meaning, that insurance company would treat you in a different way if you are obese. That highly depends on the ins. co. though. If you are overweight and have been declined coverage email me I will give you some personal suggestions. Also let me know the reason they quoted for rejection.
