Are bad bruises supposed to 'itch' as they heal?!

Question: I badly sprained my ankle last weekend and although the swelling has almost gone, the bruises are still there - though fading, but they itch like mad!

Is this normal - I don't remember this ever happening to me before!

Yes the itching is normal, it is histamine in your body that helps your bruises heal and if the nerves were squished when you had the injury and it itches that is just everything healing, but you do not want to scratch it, it irritates the skin more instead of helping. Hope this was helpful! :)

yaeh it normal

yes its completly normal, if there itching, there healing, dotn worry about it, dont itch them, but if u must, itch them, but try not 2, just means there healing which id a good thing

Tissue repairing itself often itches. Think about when you were a kid, and how much you wanted to scratch & pick scabs!

If the nerve endings were compromised when you had the injury and now everything is healing then YES you could have some itching. it will go way as the bruising goes away

yes its normal, it happens on all sorts of injury, doctors will tell you its a good sign, dont panic and enjoy a good scratch

They do itch because all of the blood rushed to that area. Some scars and other ailments itch as they heal too. It actually mens that you are healthy and that the area is helaing the way it should be.
