My doctor recently prescribed ultracet to take for migraine pain.is it a good pa!

Question: It is really a on a personal basis. Some people who have migraine can pop 2 aspirin pills, take a nap and will be fine afterwards. Others, however, will need stronger abortive medications like oxycodone when they have a migraine attack.

Ultracet as mention by the above author, is a mixture of tramadol (which is an opiate) and acetaminophen. It can be considered as a a relatively strong pain medication use to treat moderate to severe pain.

Personally, I find that ultracet is a good pain reliever whenever I have extremely painful migraine attack and normal pain medications don't work.

Take note not to take it too regularly. You can get addicted to it and get a rebound headache-medication overuse leading to headache

Imitrex works really good for my husband.

It done nothing for me, only made me sick.

Best of luck!

Ultracet (generic is tramadol) is basically tylenol mixed with a synthetic opiate. I used this for a year or more for my back, and it is effective if used infrequently. The problem with Opiates, even synthetic ones, is that they are some what addictive, and can sensitize you to pain. This means if you use it a lot, your pain will be worse than before when you are not on it. I had to come off it completely over a weekend to get control of my pain.

Now I only take opiates if the alternative is immobilizing pain.

You may experience some euphoria or disorientation the firs times you use it, so don't plan on doing anything until you know what it does to you.

Used infrequently and responsibly, it should work fine.

Good luck to you!
