Am I Anemic? :S?!


Question: I am 13 years old, i'm about 5ft 5 and im 88pounds (40kg)
I'm vegetarian, and don't really have the best diet out there
I have headaches all the time
And i'm usually feeling quite weak and dizzy
I have very pale skin, and i find it realy hard to concentrate
Which is affecting my grades at school :[
I'm tired all the time, and find it hard to get a good nights sleep
I'm also never really that hungry anymore

I'm not sure if these are signs of anemia
I just wondered if i had it, or if i was just malnourished
Do you think i should go to the doctors?
Or is it not that serious?

Please Help :]

I've been anemic since I was born so I can help you with that one!

Due to the fact that you're a vegetarian has a lot to do with anemia because you aren't getting the iron and protein you need from meat and chicken.

if you're going to the extent where you aren't eating certain veggies it's bad as well because you have to rely wholly on greens and beans and fish for iron and protein.

my case sucks because I can't take iron pills to make my anemia level better...so i have to rely completely on eating lots of foods with iron so i know from experience haha.

But you can always go to the doctor to go get checked. that's the best option you have. :).

You need to go to the doctor.
There is other ways to get the nutrients you get from meat by eating other things. If you don't get help soon it could get a lot worse.

i think u're having iron deficiency syndrome and it may caused by ur diet plan. iron is very important to ur body cos it's required in the synthesis of hemoglobin which responsible for gas (oxygen n carbon dioxide) transportation in ur body (which explain the dizziness due to lack of oxygen to brain n weakness due to poor oxygen supply to muscle) and the substance also contribute to the red color of the blood (which explain the paleness of ur skin).try to have moreeee green leafy vegetables, green peas, potato and other iron source food (u can google for more food examples) n if u go to pharmacist u can ask for iron supplement tablets/any othe forms but the best is u go n see the doctor for examination..
