Is it bad to use cough syrup to help me fall asleep?!

Question: Lately, I have had very bad insomnia as a result of relentless anxiety and depression. I'm also broke and can't afford sleep aids. I have cough syrup though and I've been taking a serving here and there to help me pass out. I don't have colds when I take it but it does the job. Is this bad for me?

If your cough medicine contains alcohol, then it is not a good choice. Try Benedryl. It's the ingredient used in PM medicines to help you fall asleep, and it is not addictive. .

absolutly u can become addicted which leads to dependency and then u will become tolerant and need more dosage or stronger dosage it will just become horrible... dont do it believe me...

yeah of course!

Yes, if it makes you fall asleep then it is addictive. It is also habit forming. The more you do that you will become dependent on it. Cough syrup is not meat as a sleeping aid, and it is not good for you to take it for that purpose. If you feel
you must have something, Dollar General sells their brand of
PM Aspirin as does other stores. There is Tylenol PM, a bit
more expensive. The best thing is to exercise during the day, that will help you to sleep better at night.

Try tylenol pm, I have a friend who is depressed and he's also an insomniac he takes that and it works for him.

Nah, you don't take that much for it to be a problem. The problem would be if you used it every single day or something like that. But occasional use is OK, in my opinion.
