Answers: My science teacher said it counts as sleep, but I can't tell if he is right or wrong...help!

that would be rest, in real sleep your body replenishes itself. there are phases of sleep, rapid eye movement, etc...

No it doesn't. If your eyes are closed and your actually sleeping it counts, it doesnt matter if its light or dark. If your eyes are open, its resting and you will have more energy later, but not more sleeping time.
xo

There are some people that can sleep with their eyes open. The room, place, or eye position doesn't matter. Sleep is when the brain goes into a different state.

no, that is just lying there in the dark. sleeping is when you are lying there asleep. your science teacher sounds like a moron.

Sleep is to fall into unconsciousness when you rest. It is identified by REM (rapid eye movement) which is the time we dream. Not enough sleep and dreaming can cause hallucinations when awake.

no it isn't because when you lay down in dark room, you body is still active. when you sleep, everything pretty much takes a timeout, your organs slow down, and so does your brain. what your science teacher is saying is resting, not sleeping. there pretty much three forms of sleep. but i cant remember them i know one is when your feeling really tired and you sleep off and on for a couple of seconds/minutes and deep sleep too but cant remember the other one.

Closing your eyes in a dark room does not count as sleep, only rest. You need REM sleep or rapid eye movement sleep to replenish the bodys hormonal structures and to restore one to a refreshed state...

That is what I call having INSOMNIA.
