Do I have weak ankles?!


Question: Everytime I run fast a moment later my ankles hurt me a lot! What could I do to help prevent this?

You can do some ankle-specific exercises: There's one you can do with a towel. You sit down on the floor, and put your feet on a towel. Then, try and bunch up the towel with your toes. Other things like, spelling the ABCs with your foot (gently gaining your range of motion, so your muscles don't stiffen), and there's these balance boards that strengthen your ankles by testing your balance.

Also, are you running for track? If so, your coach/trainer might be able to help solve this by taking a look at your running technique. Sometimes it's as simple as correcting the way your foot strikes the ground.

EDIT: ankle braces and/or taping will help--to an extent. In the long run you should also strengthen your ankle since you can't depend on a brace forever.

Yeah, you do have pretty weak ankles..
You should buy an ankle brace.

I play basketball and when i sprained my ankle.. it helped alot.. so i think it should help you too!

I have to wear ankle supports to stop my ankles from hurting being on my feet 10 hours a day
