Having sleeping problems.. help appreciated?!

Question: I'm a very light sleeper. I used to get around 7-10 hours of sleep, but now I'm getting around 4-6 hrs. The main problem is I'm a night person and a morning person so I'm not the type who would want MORE sleep, but I do try to get as much as I can, but can't seem to get to sleep. People in my house usually get up around 4 AM and I get waked up so easily, and don't go back to sleep at all. Any tips or suggestions? I also don't drink any caffeine at night or in the afternoon, and not up to taking any pills.

Hello, name is Micheal I have been in med school for 3 years working on my surgeons degree. I have taken classes on sleep, and insomnia. The best way that I have found with people that have insomnia, Is more exercise. Start going out for 20 minutes, and taking a strool. It will help make you more physical fit, and help make you sleep better. Smoking is another cause of insomnia. I tell all my patients, the should try to slow down there smoking, or just stop it completely. There are also other types of medications, that are over the counter, and some prescriptions that might help you out too. I know you said that you didnt want to take any meds, but there are a lot of meds, out there to help you fall, asleep or help you stay asleep. Med list- Melotina is found over the counter now at any wallgreens, or walmart. There is ambiem, and lunesta, which you could talk to your doctor about. I hope the best to you, and good luck with your sleeping problem, if anyone needs any advise just e-mail me at wolfman8670@yahoo.com

I usually exercise and read right before I go to sleep

be boring. pick up a math book or some news paper that you dont want to read and just look at it. drink hot milk ((ewww i know))....

here something dumb, but it works!

imagine a trip to the store.goooo sloww.. think about every step.... listen to claming music

At 13 your body is about to change and so will your sleep patterns. I would not be worrying too much, your sleep will rectify itself over the next few months. Best of Luck

Hello!
Try reading a bit in bed before you turn out the light.

Proverbs 3:24

When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid : Yea , thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet...
