First, a pH of 14 is strongly alkaline. Low pH is acidic. Second, you should have told your instructor immediately when it happened so proper first aid could have been administered (probably just flushing it with water). Third, I don't think you will die. You may end up with a blister where it hit your lip. If you really are concerned, call your doctor. Best of luck to you!

  • No i dont think ull die ....even though i dont no u i hope u dont

if you aren't experiencing extreme pain or sickness by now i doubt anything is going to happen.

    you won't die.
rinse out your mouth with water
    you'll be fine

    You would be dead already.

I would contact the poison control center. They're very helpful.

    1-800-222-1222

What kind of acid was it?
have you had any side effects with in the hour of making contact and have you notified and physician or certified science teacher? if you have they should be able to handle it accordingly

pH 14 is a strong alkalai. If it is affecting your lip, ssee a doctor/A&E depending on severity. Otherwise, if it shows no damage, assume you're fine.

Well if your lips are still there then you are ok

Well, bleach roughly has a level 7 ph for comparison. Did you tell the teacher? I'm not sure, but I think if anything was going to happen it would have by now. Let's see what others say...

please be careful I don't want you to die

I don't think you will die at all. It sounds like it wasn't enough to actually do any damage to you. Keep an eye on your lip and if you are really worried go see your school nurse or you doctor. They can put your mind at ease a bit.

you should be fine. if it starts to hurt, see a doctor.

    No you wont die
just be careful nxt time lol

    Thats happened to me before.
Drink plenty water, and drink a safe alkaline sibstance to die it down.
Even a pill u take for stomach gas if its really sore.

    Only if it hurts though!!

you will be fine just rinse your mouth out well with water.
if ur rlly tht concerned ask ur doctor. or ask ur science teacher. if u swallowed some u might hav to get ur stomach pumped.

Flush with lots of water and drink lots of water and go to the hospital, asap.

    nooooooooooo u wont die!

I think you should have mentioned this to your teacher.

I don't think you'll die if nothing really serious has happened by now but if something does go to a doctor

i dont think your gonna die and the acid was probably very watered down because an acid that strong would eat away at your lip if it wasnt watered down i think youll be fine if you still unsure tell your doctor

You'll be fine! You may end up with some minor stomach irritation or a sore throat, but nothing serious. I once had a similar incident in which I swallowed a whole teaspoon of acid (long story) and nothing happened except the symptoms I described above.

Drink lots of water in order to flush out anything you may have swallowed. If you're really concerned or your stomach starts to hurt, contact a doctor to double check.

If you are able to write this and you still have your lip it may not be acid that hit it. But next time you feel that you have come into contact with acid just use baking soda and water to neutralize it, and tell your teacher of any other problems.

you will most likely not die but if your stomach hurts then you've most probably swallowed some and you will probably get a mark on your lip but i would either ask you science teacher something about it or go to a doctor

you wont die. the strength of an acid or base is diminished by how much water you dilute it with. a drop will not kill you unless you inject it into a vital organ.

ummmmmmmmmm no, what you mean is that it was a very strong base, and you'll be fine just let water run over your mouth for a good 15 min.

pH 14 is not acid. It's a strong base. Did you tell the teacher? Go rinse your face and see how you feel. If it still hurts tomorrow then see a doctor.

    You probably won't die.

no i practically did the same thing today, if it doesn't hurt now but did earlier you would of diluted the acid with ure spit or something by now!

go talk to your teacher and the nurse at the clinic.

Rinse your mouth with plenty of water, and wash your face with lots of soap which is a base and will wash away any residue from the acid. Sounds like a very small burn, and it isn't anything to worry about. Flushing with clean water usually takes care of the problem. If you do have a burn spot, treat with a lip balm and be more careful next time. Good luck.
