Why am I so tired all the time?!

Question: I'm 21 and I'm tired all the time and it's really starting to get to me. I don't have a regular sleeping pattern and I'm constantly yawning and feeling run down. It's getting me down If I'm honest.... especially when I've got a lecture at 9 and don't go to sleep until 5 or 6 in the morning, which means inevitably I just turn the alarm off...only making the problem worse. I'm desperate to get a more efficient sleep pattern and feel more energetic and healthy. Any advice?

Sounds like you are burning the candle at both ends.... Try to go to bed around 10 and wake your self up at 5 in the morning and no matter what don't change that for about a month .... You should start getting some good sleep around the 3rd week... the fourth week is just to set the pattern....Take a multi vit in the morning after you eat....And B complex vit... If you are not feeling better then I would go to the Dr and see if you have the Epsteinbar virus....Good Luck... I hope this helps....

diabetes - u got all the symptoms

Try taking a multi-vitamin.

you must go to a doctor

exercise, and go to bed early.

go 2 bed now and wake up in a few days

Try eating healthier and taking a multi vitamin in the morning and if you fal asleep at 6 dont sleep until 11 or 12 that night so you can get to sleep quick. Then youll wake up take your vitamins have a good breakfast and maybe be ready to take on your day. But who knows.

try going to bed early, stop partying so much...lol...

lack of sleep can make you depressed...

get some rest buddy!

maybe you could try sitting in the back of the class so you can rest a little.

r u under some kindda phsycological pressure...

Well of course youll be tired if youre going to sleep at 6 and have to go for a lecture at 9.
What do you think im going to say next?

Yes thats right.Go to sleep earlier.

Eat more iron and calcium. You could be anaemic and calcium helps your iron absorption. Also get checked for diabetes.

could be a sh*tty diet! try replacing sweet and fatty things with fruit and veg. also, avoid soft drinks and alcohol

Eat 6 times a day... smaller portions... about 250-350 calories each time...

This will increase your metabolism and give you more energy.

Stop playing Warcraft or Everquest or Counter Strike or whatever it is that your doing till 5-6am!

outside of the obvious of going to bed at an earlier time, your body needs 8 hours of sleep a night. Other then that you would need to see your doctor, if you have trouble going to sleep your doctor can give you a sleeping pill Rx

You probably are stressed out or just lacking a good nights sleep. Sounds like it could be sleep disorder maybe also..Call a Dr. and see what he says..They have all kind of tests and things to do for sleep problems. Good luck.

why are u up till 5? go to bed after ur lecture!!!! get 8 hours of good sleep if u dont get adequite sleep your grades will porb be effected.....stop parting and get some sleep!!!!!! next semester make ur schedule little better!

eat healthy, pasta, fruit, nuts, bran, fibre ect. have a workout a couple of hours before, that way you will be tired and your body will shut down to repair itself naturally. Then relax before going to sleep, read a book. have a bath, put some smellies on and relax.................ZZZZZzzzzz......

it also happened to me...my solution for that is to drink milk before and after sleep,i cant really explain it why because it will be too long..anyway when i was having the same problem i ate at my favorite restaurant which i think helped a lot...and of course sleep well heheh

Lack of vitamins especially iron could cause this I have been told but you should see your Doctor.

I had the same problem when I was in college. I had a 9:30 am class and just couldn't make it because of my sleep patterns. You can stay up until 5-6am but next semester change your scedule to afternoon classes only. You might have sacrafice a little and pass on early classes that sound cool but you can keep your sleep pattern the way it is.

Another thing you could do is try going to bed an hour earlier each week until you're down to about 12am. 4 am for 1 week, 3am for the next and so on. Good luck!

first of all look at your lifestyle, is there anything there that is keeping you awake at nights till the wee hours such as noise or activities you do before bed?, then look at your diet, do you drink too much caffiene?

it may be a good idea to make a diary of your sleep, when you sleep, how long, how often you wake up, that sort of thing.
in your diary also put down how much exercise your getting and how often your consuming caffiene.

if you find that you are getting enough sleep but at the wrong time of the day/night you can then try and get up earlier and goto bed earlier a little bit at a time to help regulate everything.

if you find this is not solving the problem you should then take the diary to your doctor to rule out health problems, like diabetes, ME, etc..

i have MS which makes me very fatigued alot, but found that having a computer on in the same room and trough the wall was keeping me up at night which made me more tired through the days. so had to move the computer to the other end of the house and stopped downloading at nights. hence no noise through the walls from the fan. so you may want to think about electrical stuff thats on overnight that makes even a small noise that you may pick up on when your trying to sleep.

force yourself to go to bed at a normal time...10:00 or 11:00. it sounds like you are running yourself ragged staying up too late and going to school. I've been there, done that. Trust me. Go to bed early!

OH, watch out for caffine in the afternoon. That will keep you up at night...aka soft drinks, coffee, tea, chocolate...

You could be iron deficient get some blood tests. Drink more water, exercise more. Try some light exercise before you go to bed and go to bed an hour later than normal it may help you sleep longer.

problem might be that your FAT!

you eat sooo much that your body has used all it's energy just to digest the incredible amount of food you consume!!
