How come i cant fall asleep without the sound of a fan!?!

Question: There is actually a psychological reason behind it. People who live in cities are bothered by the quietness of the country and vice versa. I used to wake up at 4am every day simply because i was used to waking up and looking at the clock. I put a towel over the clock at night so when id wake up id have no idea wut time it was. eventually i stopped waking up at 4 to check the time. What you could do is fall asleep with the fan on and have some1 turn the fan off when u fall asleep. ull eventually get used to sleeping without the fan. hope that helps

it would help block out other noises and distractions

Hey me too! It feels so silent and creepy without that sound. Maybe because it tends to get hot at night and I had to turn the fan on, so I had no choice but to get used to the accompanying sound.

I know exactly what you mean, I use a fan to drown out the outside noises and the "white noise" a fan creates helps me sleep. As far as why you can't sleep without it it's probably purely psychological, your body is accustomed to hearing that noise before you fall asleep and since things aren't "right" (such as sleeping in an unfamiliar location or without a fan), your body has a negative reaction to it, your body likes routine.

A fan is like white noise. It is constant, low tone, and not too intrusive. It actually covers up a lot of the other little distracting noises around. In short, the monotony bores you to sleep. And once you get used to it, well, it is very adictive. So, you can't stop using it. It does not harm, and the air circulation and ions from the motor may actually be good for your health.

You probably got use to it...it's a peaceful sound
