Removing a bandage?!

Question: I cut the tip of my thumb off on Monday and now I need to get the bandage off. The wound has become stuck to the bandage and I want to know how best to get it off. I see that ripping it off in one quick movement will work but is there a less painful way and a way that it wont bleed so much? Maybe something that will ease it off like when you stick yourself with super glue?

Go to a small sink in your house, or a small bowl. Fill it with warm water, not too hot as this may hurt the wound alot. Once it's at a comfortable temperature, add a little bit of soap or some baby oil to the water. (This will act as a lubricant and help the plaster / bandage glide off of your thumb.)

Place your thumb into the water and leave it there for about a minute or so (sorry, reading that sounds like you're thumb had been chopped off on Blue Peter xD).

When your thumb has got accustom to the temperature gently ease the dressing off, and all should be well.

Soak it in warm water for a little bit & gently ease of the bandage

Soak your thumb (and the bandage) in warm water. This will help to loosen the grip between the dried blood and the bandage. Dab your thumb dry after. Don't rub it or you may well start it bleeding again.

Look carefully, after the bandage has been removed for any signs of infection ... extreme swelling, redness, pus, etc. You could require antibiotics if infection is present.

Soak in warm water and use a cotton bud socked in anticeptic disinfectant to rub it off. Tap the wound instead of rubbing it to make sure it doesn't start bleeding again

First thought on this, who advised you to take off the bandage,? your posted question states you have cut OFF the TIP of your FINGER, surely in that case the =hospital= is involved and =they= should have advised you if, and when you should remove this bandage, if. am correct check with them prior to doing anything you many cause damage.but if it is Not as serious as you state, then remove the bandage by soaking in warm water.=But only under those circumstances..

the best way to remove the bandage would be to do it when you are in the bath, the warmth of the water and the soap will make it much easier to remove, unless you have been told to keep the wound dry then this would be the best way.

You could try soaking the bandage to loosen it. But be ready with neosporin and a new bandage too: An injury like that isn't going to heal quickly, especially if you pick at it.
