Quit Smoking - Drug Question - Nicorette Gum?!

Question: I will being using Nicorette gum shortly after my Zyban starting period is over. My question before I start using the Nicorette gum. Can I swallow my own saliva while using the drug? I know with Chew you have to spit. According to the drug fact sheet it says not to drink 15mins before or during the use of the gum.

Thanks in advance.

Well first off congrats on taking the first step to quit smoking - i did and it was one of the best decisions in my life! I went for Nicorette patch and i think with the gum it's ok to swallo because instead of smoking, the gum replenishes your system with nicotine minus all that cancer causing agents. Eventually thru' the weeks your dosage will be reduced until hey presto - u dun need no nicotine in your system. Oh that and frens who dun bait you and offer you 'lites' as a joke to prevent you from quitting!!

I would actually suggest a prescription drug called Chantix (spelling) I have known quite a few people who have quit smoking using it. It shuts off the craving for the cigarette. You actually smoke for the first 10 days while taking it i think, because it doesn't contain nicotine or anything. Than you gradually reduce your number of cigarettes and within a couple weeks you're smoke free. You still take the medicine for a few weeks after that, but when you're done, you're done.

Good luck
