Expired Medicine? Please Help?!

Question: Is generic pills like Omperazole (Oral Prilosec...something like that) is it okay to take after 2 weeks of expiration? I haven't taken these in the last two weeks. I just took one pill today then noticed it expired a short while ago (2 weeks ago). Will this be harmful to my health? What should I do?

No, it won't be harmful, the only thing is it won't be as strong. Like if it were a 20mg tablet, it might have the equivalent of a 10mg tablet. You won't get sick of anything, just call for a new Rx. Pharmacies usually will give you an emergency dose, like 1 weeks worth until you can get ahold of your doctor for a new refill.

go ahead & take 2 before you go to bed tonite & IF you get up in the morning take 2 more

You should be all right, just replace the rest with a new unexpired package and dispose of the expired ones properly.

unlikely to be harmful, just may not be as effective

I ditto crystal's answer. It won't be harmful at all. However, use your own judgment and follow your gutt feeling. No one knows your body tolerance better than U do.
If you don't want to take anymore of the old prescrip, then discard it and go the pharmacy for a refill.
What ever you do....DO NOT double the dose just because the prescrip is out dated.
To your health!!!
