17 year old hit by a car and now in coma.?!

Question: One of my friends ( not close friends but i have known him since he moved here in 7th grade) was riding a bike and was hit by a car. This happened Tuesday and he has been in a coma ever since. He has absolutely no brain activity at all and the doctors don't know if he will wake up or not. He's not some kind of small kid either he is pretty tough guy. What's the chances of him surviving? How long could it possibly take to come out of the coma if he ever does? Also if he did come out of the coma would he defiantly be brain damaged or what? Also another thing if u read this maybe u could take some time to pray for this guy, he is a really stand up guy. AND HE'S ONLY 17!!

You can't predict this kind of thing, If he's brain dead then he is like dead with just his heart beating and he will never wake up, but his heart will only beat if he is put on machines and that's just making him suffer more. In my opinion, his family should donate his healthy organs, that's only only if he has no chance of surviving in any way. And I will pray for him and his family and for you as well because I feel your concert for him and here's a hug for you OOOOOOO

BUT with God, anything is possible for a miracle

its unpredictable

I reckon everyone who reads this will send you a prayer

confused

I am very sorry to hear that. If their is no Brain Activity their is not a good chance he will come out of the coma. and if he does he will probably have alot of Brain Damage. But i can't say i am not a Doctor. He will be in my Thoughts and Prayers

people do wake up cant pretend to know but i wiil pray

Thats horrible. I'm sorry and I'll pray for him and his family<3

goodluck<3

If the doctors say he has absolutely no brain activity then chances are he wont wake up and if by some chance he does he wont have any brain functions. I am so sorry to hear about something as terrible as this. He will be in my families thoughts an prayers.

only the doctors could know the extent of damage to his brain

that is very sad, and i have prayed and hope soon your friend will be awakened, from this sleep! Good Luck GBY

I am so sorry. A few months ago, my sister's friends were in an accident and one of them died after a coma, while the other one took two months to wake up. The chances are 50-50. I hope your accquaintance wakes up. I'll pray for him.

The chances of him coming out of the coma all depends. Many more things come into play when your talking about a coma and it all comes down to the parents and taking him of life support. My 28 month old was on life support and became acidic so i went ahead and took her off life support. God bless to the family.

AWWWWWW That's sad. All you can do is hope for the best. Pray 4 him!
And it doesn't matter if he' tough or not. If he's in a coma, even the toughest people can have no brain activity

i will pray for him god bless u and him

Comas generally last a few days to a few weeks, rarely more than 2 to 5 weeks but it can last as long as several years. After this time, some patients gradually come out of the coma, some progress to a vegetative state. Some patients who have entered a vegetative state go on to regain a degree of awareness. Others remain in a vegetative state for years or even decades (the longest recorded period being 37 years).
The outcome for coma and vegetative state depends on the cause, location, severity and extent of neurological damage. A deeper coma alone does not necessarily mean a slimmer chance of recovery, because some people in deep coma recover well while others in a so-called milder coma sometimes fail to improve. People may emerge from a coma with a combination of physical, intellectual and psychological difficulties that need special attention. Recovery usually occurs gradually
