Question: Is there an over-the-counter medicine to take to make the hurt and soreness go away? (aleve, advil, tylonol, excedrin, ect.)

For temporary solution, Aleve would be your best bet, but you should see a doctor to rule out rhumatoid arthritis.

My Mom has arthritis so bad, she is practically cripplied. She is on narcotic pain medication, and she was also on prednisone, but they just took her off of it.

Look in the yellow pages for your local Arthritis Pain Center or a Pain Management Center.

Sometimes depending where the pain is, they can give you a cortisone shot directly in the joint.

God Bless! I feel for you, because I see how much my Mom suffers!.

Dear Lizzie Ann: Arthritis is usually associated with age ( Ops, I'm near to that already! ) and genetics. And in such condition, O-T-C medicines will not give you the desired relief. I suggest you consult your rheumatologist, who is also specialized in arthitis, who can prescribe to you the proprietary medicine(s) most suited to your condition. This must be a maintenance medication, and not the Advil, etc., which are used for common pains that usually go away with one or two tablets, together with some rest. Try it, and get better results.

First you are supposed to report adverse affects of Humira to the FDA, so I hope you have. With liver problems, you really do not want to be taking any pain killers! They will now want to wait to see if your liver recovers from the Humira, so that is why they did not prescribe you any pain killers. I would contact your Rheumatologist and ask him what pain killers you can take, as he will know which ones will not harm the liver. Best of Luck
