Would marijuana help debilitating migraines?!

Question: YES it does!! It is very effective. It also works very well for nerve pain.

I thank God everyday that I live in California and that the good voters saw fit to legalize it for medical use.

If it wasn't for it I would have to take more pain medications like hydrocodone and oxycodone than I already have to daily

People that tell you it doesn't, have not been in chronic pain and used it. Or they don't want to accept many many years of medical studies on it. I was in one at UCSD and the participants were spine injury, migraines and cancer patients, not just a bunch of pot heads. All of the medical papers published have backed the use of it. That's why 12 states have legalized it, not because they wanted to,help out their pot head citizens.

And it is absolutely stupid for anyone to say everybody that uses it for medical purpose is looking to get high!! If you really have a medical need like I do, they give you plenty of far stronger drugs to make you 'medicated' than pot. And as long as you don't abuse them, like I do not, they provide plenty to help control pain from spine injuries and other MEDICALLY valid reasons. Try to go to a doctor where it is legal and tell him you are looking for a 'buzz' and see what he gives you.

To people like me, it is just another medication to use to try to at least minimize some of the daily pain we live with 24/7. It's no different than taking any other medication from a legit MD. The people that try to BS them never BS them for long. The DEA makes sure of that.

The guy that disabled me didn't smoke his drug,,,he drank it legally at a retirement party,,,but I'm just as disabled no matter what

Just preheat the oven to 350degrees.

I highly doubt that smoking marijuana will do anything for the pain. Most people that smoke it for "pain" relief are people just looking to get high. Each marijuana joint contains the equivalent tar of an entire pack of cigarettes. You don't want that, do you? In my experience, narcotic Rx's for pain work just fine. There are also other routes to taking care of migraine pain.

Take a look at this board here on WebMD: http://boards.webmd.com/webx?14@@.5987f4...

It is an online group for migraine sufferers. I hope that it helps.

It might

but for sure it would also help kill some of your brain cells!

I say it's not worth it, try another method.

After reading other comments -

I personally don't mind the medical use if used properly, but for a migraine I think that marijuana should be the absolute last resort. I think that there are better methods to solving migraines than using marijuana, but every situation is different. If you think you need to use marijuana to solve your migraines go ahead and do it, its your life.

If this is what you think you need go to your Doctor and get it from him, not off the streets.

it is doubtful, as marijuana does not have any pain killer. however, if you use it in excess, it'll make you numb and thus might ease your headache just a bit.

It may help occasionally - one in 100.
If you are in cold country use all warm things.
Pl try cold water bath and observe if in hot country, if pain increases use warm.
If you have cough/cold body hot water bath will help.
Massage and exercise in front of morning sun is good thing, pl try.
Pl try simple acupressure given below for immediate relief.
If it fails you will have to go for Acupuncture.

There is hardly any medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for RA, OA, Back ache, Ear ache/ringing, Stomach ache and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.

Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES, Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, BODY CONSTITUTION etc are their causes.
None of them can be treated with medicine.
Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.

Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.

Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.
The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more.

Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, tension, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods, SMOKING and alcohole.

Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits like dates, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help if cough is not there.

But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong.

If it is acute pl search a painful point (with round tipped pen/jimmy) 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

For forehead/eye pain the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 3-7 mm below.

It may disappear naturally too.
