Since you're a young person, I doubt it's arthritis of the spine. You mention that you exercise -- could be either fatigue, overworking of a particular set of muscles, or a slight misalignment of the cervical vertebrae.

Until you have it diagnosed (or until it goes away on it's own), you may obtain some relief through acupressure.

The link will take you to a site that has clear references, general information and diagrams which can help you handle the pain. In my experience, you have to "play around" with the exact location of the pressure point that works for you, but when you find it you'll know it's the right one because the pain actually disappears!

One treatment can give you about 2 minutes of relief. The second will work for about 20 minutes, and the third can last for as long as 2 hours.

Good luck, and keep fit!

Sitting in front of a screen all day maybe? That and having no life

your neck is out of alignment and is causing tension on the left side.
try turning your head to the left and pressure pointing each side to release the tension.
if that does not work see a chiropractor or physio.

Nerve pain from a cervical problem would do that. And if it like a radiating pain there is a group of nerves there that could cause the pain

I know because I have a cervical spine injury and a chronic nerve pain problem. This link will help you

Good luck. And beware of the chiropractors. To make a real long story short I was treated for about a year by a chiropractor after a car accident and partly because of his 'adjustments' I ended up having 2 operations and permanent nerve damage. Have a MD refer you to one if he feels it will help
