If the phlegm is clear, it is probably just a cold. But if you are bringing up anything that is greenish, you probably have a sinus or respiratory infection. If the sinus pressure increases or your teeth start hurting in conjunction with the drainage or your face swells, see a doctor even without the green drainage. Also see a doctor if you have a fever over 100.

Otherwise, just drink lots of fluids, humidify the air, take a lot of vitamin C throughout the day, aspirin for aches, decongestants for the drainage, try warm compresses over the aching sinuses, and take it easy.

Could be either, could be neither. Try over the counter meds for a day or two and see if it improves.

It could be either or. Sometimes it could start off a cold & end up a sinus infection... Sinus infection can run along the top of your eye brows through your head into your ears and up through your nose. Everyone is different if you have it longer than 4-5 days call your doctor...

I know it isn't for me to vote, but I like kathy_is answer (as I sit here typing, I can't help to notice nearly every symptom she has listed is what I have been experiencing over the last two days).

Thank you. I will be going to see my doctor in the morning!
