well i have to stay in the hospital for a while... and get an iv put in me. ive had an iv before but it hurt ALOT!! im really really scared. do u guys have any tips to help with the pain? btw im 12 years old.

Hey if it hurts real bad They are doing it wrong
Yes it does a bit , but not for long
and it it does' they again have it in the wrong place
Just tell the nurse that it bothers you ALLOT , AND YOU WOULD LIKE SOME ONE THERE WITH YOU OK,,
TELL HER WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE,
The first two answers wont work because its after the fact
so ,, The 3rd person seems about right
RELAX ,, its just a poke
Now if you get real weird they will help with something
But they wont do it just because it hurts you a bit

Are you not on a pain killer already? Ask if they could give you some, either in a pill or through the iv. If not, ibuprofen might help. I don't know though.
Ask your nurse for a novacaine. either that or laughing gas. I had surgery and im 13, so they gave it to me. using laughing gas, they made it feel like you just stuck your hand in hot water for 5 sec.
the better the nurse is, the easier it will be...has been my experience. there's nothing really you can do. i just think to myself if i feel pain, "i'm only CALLING this pain, it's not really pain, i can deal with this, this really does not hurt..." and i breathe deeply and relax. it really does work . best of luck :)
I feel your pain in a way lol because i am not fond of shots. However, to ease the pain you must calm down, look away, and think about something else.
