Should I risk getting my knee checked out or will it heal on it's own?!

Question: A week ago at work I was quickly stepping over a 2' condrete wall and the top of it caught my knee. My knee cap was pushed back and I was cut slightly. The next two days I could not walk, so much pain. I stayed off of my knee and until yesterday it felt much better. Yesterday I lad to lift a load of about 80 pounds. I squated to grab it and as I stood up, my knee started aching again. Does anyone have an idea if this will heal on it's own or shoudl I get this checked out. I work overseas and to get this checked out woudl be very difficult. I would be flown away to a doctor, and they may send me back home to the states if they think I am at risk for further injury. I would rather tough it out but do not want to risk further damage to my knee. Thank you all for your time.

it should heal on its own just fine, the problem is that until it is healed it is likely to easily be re-injured if you keep tossing weight onto it or moving in a way that disturbs it, so be extra careful and baby it as much as possible til you are sure it is healed ... getting it checked for dislocation is a good idea, but if it isn't dislocated just give it proper time to heal

You should get it checked out to make sure the knee cap is not dislocated (I had that just recently, it was out of joint for about two weeks). Once it's back in place, it heals pretty quickly. Otherwise, there are just a few exercises that you may need to do. When you hurt the knee, all the tendons tighten up, so you need to stretch them out again.

You will have to decide on the risks of seeking medical attention versus continuing working.
It will not heal on it's own if you keep working and do nothing.

So wrap it with a tensor bandage at work and pay very close attention to how you move to avoid re-injury.
