Sprained ankle - blood clot?!

Question: I sprained my ankle last week, and heard a vicious popping sound. Since then I haven't really cared for it, and I have had pain in my calf all week. I just read online that this can indicate a blood clot. There is no brusing on my calf, but just below it. Is this a blood clot? How serious can it be? I haven't been to the doctors yet.

It could be a blood clot in your leg. Especially if you have been less mobile. You should see your medical provider as soon as possible. The medical provider can do diagnostic tests to see if it is a blood clot. There is a number of ways he can do this. Labs and Doppler of the leg. It should be checked because a blood clot can lead to a stroke. It is nothing to take lightly.

I am relieved to know you don't have a blood clot. That can be very life threatening. Take care and get well soon. Report It
