How do I convince my PCP to admit me?!
Question: I've been having health problems since I was 13, but now it's unbearable. My back is killing me, as well as my right leg and right shoulder..which is why I'm not asleep right now. No dr. has been able to tell me why yet. Now, my IBS is horrible. I had a horrible anxiety attack yesterday and idk why. Just watching tv and got really hot, then hours later I couldn't breathe. By the time I got the ER I couldn't catch my breath even enough to tell them my name and felt like i was going to blackout. Then, today i was taking a bath and after I got out I got really really hot and couldnt breathe all of a sudden, so I ran to my room and I could breathe ok, but then I immediatly started puking. I can't take it anymore! It keeps getting worse, and I have to go to the ER over and over. I want to be admitted so that I can have help and to get answers. What do I do if my PCP won't admit me at my appointment tomorrow? If I refuse to accept no does she have to?

Go to a different doctor. You can ALWAYS change PCPs. Never give up! Always try to take an older person with you who can vouch for all your problems. Unfortunately but true, you're so young, you need an adult to say everything you're saying is true. NEVER GIVE UP! I had to see over 60 doctors for chronic unbearable pain until I FINALLY found one who gave me Morphene and Codeine and meds for anxiety and depression. The problem is you're so young. And I don't know if you can afford to go to specialists outside your insurance.
You HAVE to get your doctor to believe you. Try to see another doctor, and go with an adult. That's the best advice I can give you. I believe you! Why shouldn't a doctor? It could ALL be anxiety. It's amazing what the brain can do to the body. Be firm and assertive tomorrow. INSIST that this is stuff is happening, you're crying ever day, and you're in constant pain! Beg her even just for something for the anxiety. That might help everything. I sure hope so.

It sounds like you have anxiety disorder. Are you on any meds to control anxiety? I would try this before I ask to be put in the hospital. Good luck.
