My husband has rectal bleeding?!

Question: and I can't make him go to the doctor!
I know this sounds a little gross, but he showed me last night and told me it's been happening for 3 days.
When he has a bowel movement, it look like a woman being on her period. It fills the toilet with blood and when he wipes, it's all over the toilet paper.
I cannot make him go to the doctor and it's worrying and stressing me really bad.
He says he feels fine and doesn't need to go?
What can I say to convince him he does need to go? :(

If its bright red than he is bleeding somewhere in the lower rectum. If it looks like coffee grounds its in the lower intestine. He really should go to the emergency room or his family doctor to get blood work done. He could become anemic with the blood loss. He needs to have a colonoscopy done which is a scope entered through the rectum to look to see where the bleeding is from. My dad had this and was the same way he put it off. When he finally went, they found a small cancerous tumor. Not to scare you, but it could be anything.

It is possible that your husband has hemorrhoids, especially if the blood on the tissue is a bright red, and if there is any burning or itching when he passes stool, or after he passes stool.

This can happen if the stool is particularly hard and if there was a good amount of straining to evacuate the stool.

Preparation H is one remedy for hemorrhoids.

Also, check out webmd.com for more information on the condition.

well he needs to go. It could be a few things on it could be a Burt's .hemorrhoids Or he could have a kidney stone. That happen to me but i was peeing blood i don't know if it rectal problem. But it may be Cancer. He needs to go in he will probably get a prostate exam. I had it done. It sucks. As you probably well no but. I be scared to. I hope every thing works out for you guys

well he should go, this could be very serious,he should not at all be embarrass, he is not the only one that docs. have check out for this kind of thing, if you have not convinced him to go in a couple hours, drag him by the ankles

i have ulcerative colitis that causes bleeding when having bowl movements it could be this and found out one day in the same way as your husband (bleed very heavly)
im not sure if its the same condition but mine is under control and i live a normal life,
reassure him and try to make him see a doctor,
i sure he knows it has to be treated

Well, it can just be hemorroids ~ which is what we'd hope for.

And if he feels all right anyway, maybe that's what it is!

But you can't stop on this wishful thinking.
It's a great thing to check it out with medical tests & doctor..
You see if it's anything else, it could even be a serious health situation.
Now many men can be really scared to face things like that ~ no matter if they admit it or not.
Also may feel forced to play the strong guy. (?)
So, what if you don't insist with your worrying/being scared of the situation?
What if you just stop saying anything for a day or two, and if it still continues tell him you've been doing your research on such a symptom, what you've found, & that you really feel that if he loves and cares for You & your family, he really needs to check it out & get professional help!

I wish you & your hubbie All the best,
& quick recovery!

Tell him " COLON CANCER"

this is a real SIGN of colon cancer, tell him to go now.

Tell him that if he loves you he'll go to the doctor! My uncle had rectal bleeding for a long time and it was colon cancer. Let's just say that several operations later he is no longer with us.

insert him an Anusol suppository, that'll help :-)
