My hands fall asleep everynight, what can I do?!

Question: I sleep on my side with my arms folded like a vampire (right hand on left shoulder, left hand on right shoulder) every morning I wake up and both my hands are asleep. It's to the point where I don't have the strength to pick up my cell phone. Other than changing my sleeping position (which I know is a little goofy- but I'm okay with that) what can I do?

Aside from the position that is obviously causing it, I think deep down, the culprit is your pillow and or mattress. It's one thing to go to sleep in a certain position but once you are asleep, you shift and move around whether you want to or not. The average person shifts positions 27 times during the night.
And the position you find youself isnt working... theres not much you can do to subconsciously change your sleeping position while you are asleep so you need to change something you can control.

Try getting a different kind of pillow (that's much easier and cheaper than trying a different kind of mattress).

Hope this helps and good luck!

It could be Carpel Tunnel Syndrome - RSI. You may have to move your hands/arms down by your side to aid in the blood flow.

Quit sleeping like a vampire, you're sleeping on nerves that will put your hands to sleep.May be your mattress is to hard. Maybe you are laying against the pillow that presses on those nerves. But it is definitely the nerves.

your hands r simply falling asleep because your sleeping on them.. stop sleeping on them and they won't fall asleep .. idon't think their is any other solution!!
