The general advice now is to keep moving and exercising. I have some free chair based exercises online. The are specifically designed to strengthen the back and keep the rest of the body mobile, strong and flexible. Please check it out: http://www.daily-exercise.com

I threw my back out a few months ago (picking up kids, housework etc...) and now I do exercises every day to strengthen my lower back. Some days they seem to help and other days it seems like it aggravates it even more.

yes i do suffer from back pains , but not that much walking helps me a lot

Everyday of my life since February 18th, 1998. I dislocated my 10th vertebrate, tore both Rotator Cuffs and had many upper neck and shoulder ligaments torn. I do have my good days and my bad days but that still doesn't stop me from being me. For me only surgery can help, but I believe I've let to much time pass and it would only be a waste of my time getting it done and at this point I've gotten used to it. Can't really remember not ever having the pain. I stopped taking any Pain Meds, they don't cure only numb. I do keep the people at Icy-Hot ointment in business though.

Yeah I have had a chronic pain problem due to a spine injury for years so I know how the pain 24/7 can get to you.

Here are a few links to information from medical professionals that I use often

If you are in mild pain something like icy/hot may help but for real, chronic pain there is nothing that works better than medication, that's why they write you a prescription for it. Anybody that says they don't work or preaches about how bad they are for you has never really been in pain 24/7 before.

When you are in pain all the time, day and night, day after day just hoping it will go away doesn't work. The pain will get to the point that it controls your life if you don't treat it.
