It sounds very much like pleurisy which would require an antibiotic so you really should go to the doctor. I have had pleurisy twice. The first time it hurt really really bad-I went to the hospital it hurt so bad. The second time I had it, it wasn't as bad and I recognized the pain so I knew what it was. Sorry but I think you should be on the safe side and go to the doctor. The doctor can go by your symptoms or even do an x-ray to confirm if it truely is pleurisy. The pain can vary from chest, back, shoulder, and ribs. It is a sharp pain that increases when you inhale, laugh, or cough and it can get worse if you don't get it treated. It can be caused by an infection (that you might not even know about) or an injury. It is basically an infection in the lining of your lung and it sounds and feels worse than it actually is. Antibiotic should clear it up.

'Heart Burn' or acid indigestion. google it for more information

collapsed lung? infection of the pleura? lung infection? can you hear a wheeze? if it is on the exhale bronchitis on the inhale pneumonia. You should go to the Dr. You have a serious past and it could be something that is cleared up fast or something that requires long term care. good luck and hope your feeling better soon.

Well you need to go to a doctor and also get an xray. Of course your tired of going to the doctors, but unless you do you will stress wondering what it is and also the quicker you go the quicker you can do something about it. No one should wait out pain until it gets so unbareable.

gall bladder, maybe. Sorry, but it looks like another trip to the doc for you. Bummer.
