For the pain, Ice (Ironically) to the pain in the back for twenty minutes on / twenty minutes off. In a day or so, switch to heat for the same rates of off and on time. Ibuprofen to reduce the inflammation. No lifting anything heavier than a plate of food for a week. If the pain gets too bad, see your doctor for some steroids.
I assume the hand needs no further treatment.
If so, you're too late for stitches, so some neosporin and some telfa type dressing and kling bandages. Vitamin C 500 mg twice a day and 220 mg of Zinc once a day until healed, have been clinically proven to increase the rate of healing in connective tissue.
