Some mornings, I feel like I've been punched in the chin?!

Question: As far as I know, I'm not a restless sleeper but there have been mornings when I feel like I had been in a fight the night before. This morning I woke up and my chin, jaw, neck and side hurt. I don't have any brusing either, just sore muscles. Any idea what this could be?

i have the same problem. Every night i have to fight off the bogey man to make sure he stays in the closet, but you might just be sleeping in awkward positions

that sucks!

It could be that you grind your teeth; mouth guards are inexpensive, and if one solves your problem you'll be all set.

Perhaps you're clenching your jaw/grinding your teeth while you sleep. You can go to the dentist to get a splint specially made for you (although, without insurance, it's pretty expensive...mine would've been $400 I believe) or you could try some of those "one sizes fits all" ones, not sure if those work.

you are probably grinding your teeth, you need to start meditating before sleeping helped me I used to grind as well!

maybe you punched yourself in the night ;)

hehe - would be funny if you did!!

ok im sorry. ill take it seriouslly!!

yes, maybe you hit your chin on something?!

maybe someone is just beating you up while you sleep.... okay not really. your probably just sleeping funky

1.You could be sleeping the wrong way.
2.you could be a sleep and hit you self (happens to me)
that all I can think of

You're grinding your teeth in your sleep. Go to the dentist and get fitted for a mouth guard ASAP, or else you're going to have problems opening your mouth wide, chewing chewy or hard foods, and etc. Sometimes it gets so bad that people's jaws lock shut. Further damage is easily preventable with a mouth guard which you'll need to wear every night. Good luck!
