There is no problem with a person with a concussion going to sleep. In the hospital we wake them up every 2 hours to be sure that there has been no worsening of their condition. Usually it is just an over night stay.
The problem is when someone has a head injury and no one checks on them for the whole night. Sleep does no harm and probably helps healing.

I think it pretty much depends on how severe the concussion is. They probably need to keep you awake untill they can stabalize you and repair start making repairs to your scull.
