Large rock thrown into my ankle, could it be borken or chipped?!

Question: I was standing with friends, talking, minding our own buisness, and someone chucks a rock at us and i manage to take it on my ankle bone, or the bone which come out of the sides of your feet at the top where they connect to the leg. I can walk on it but it really hurts alot. if i keep it still for any time then move my foot it hurts alot too. There isnt really anything on the outside, like grazing, just a little bruising, but thats not very surprising it hurts alot when i take off or put on my shoes. do you think the bone could be chipped or fractured and if so how long would that take to heal, as i play field hockey and really dont want to be out for any length of time.

also, whats the best thing to with it? try and do as little walking as possible and bandage it im guessing? could i take something like ibuprofen or other anti inflamitory to reduce pain/swelling?

Elevate the foot, get an ice pack strapped to it (a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel will do) then get to A&E. A 4 hour wait is far better than risking permanent damage by not getting it assessed.

yes go the hospital to make sure

definately borken

Yes u are in sain what are u talking about u are hit by rock and still sitting on yahoo answers my goodness go to see the doctor.

You must see a Doctor immediately!

There could be numerous problems in this situation including blood clotting, ligament damage and soft tissue damage..you will also need to have an X-Ray done!
