It's endless pain, laying down, standing up, sitting down, no matter what no!

Question: I'm 7 months preg and the back pain, joint pain, I can barly sleep it hurts so much, laying down hurts my hips and back, sitting down hurt them too and standing, it's the worst of all! I have a lot of damage to my joints due to my rough past and I don't want to become dependent on pain meds, exspecially when I'm preganant (when it gets really bad I take one or two non-aspirin pain killers, but only when it's at it's worse)

I mean how can I get plenty of sleep when it hurts so much I can rarly even get to sleep?

We have a soft mattress, since the firm ones are pure agony on me, but even it being soft doesn't help much.

Anyone know any safe ways to avoid this pain without hurting the child or becomeing dependant on pain meds?

Believe it or not the soft mattress is just as bad, it provides you with no support to speak of. And you do need some support as much as you need cushioning. Get yourself a nice big body pillow, or mulitple regular pillows. Lie on your side, and place one pillow underneath your belly, one between your knees, and arrange the others to suit your needs at the moment so you are more or less cradled in. You might find a maternity support belt also helps with back and belly pain, by supporting some of the weight of the baby and putting pressure right on the small part of your back. The sell those at maternity shops and sometimes at Babys/ToysRUs. I wore mine 24/7 by the seven month point. During pregnancy there is a hormone, called relaxin, released to loosen joint supports to allow for the expansion you need to accomodate the growing baby. It means your connections are looser, and that can make for a lot of discomfort sometimes. You may also find it easier to sleep in a more upright position, propped up in an easy chair- some ladies do. If you can get into a pool where you can float, that helps give the aching joints a break, and the activity of a gentle swim can also help. A soak in a warm tub can also make you feel easier, right before bedtime it can relax you enough to get some sleep. The closer you get to delivery, the more sleep will get to be a challenge some nights. All the little noises will bug you, you will think you hear dust falling. For that particular sensitivity, a fan on low blowing over you can help mask the rest and help you relax to sleep. At the moment you are really limited to Tylenol as a pain reliever, but don't wait until you are in agony to take them. They work best on moderate pain, and can actually help prevent matters getting to the really bad point. My sympathies, I've been there where you are now. And the best advice is lots of pillows, a maternity belt, and a pool to float in.

maybe try a heating pad or ice it may help some of the pain go away

The answer by "The Mom" is dead on.

Try a meditation cd... it really does help a lot of people with chronic pain.
