Bruises that never go away?!

Question: I have two bruises.

One on my **** and one on my calf, I've had them for about a year now. They just wont go away! Why?

I use to take minocycline but i stopped taking it 3 months ago. Currently i'm on birth control. Any reason why they wont go away? Is there a way that I can make them go away?

First, birth control can cause blood clots so make sure you get those checked.
Secondly, I have a similar thing on my upper thigh. In high school (siiigh, 16 years ago), I walked into a fire hydrant and my entire upper leg bruised. It was so bad you could see the pattern of my muscle under the skin pushed through the bruise. Anyway, now that spot has a slight dent and discoloration. It's a type of scar. Left from a slight hematoma that I should have had drained. You definitley need to get it checked out.

I bruise so easily. You can tap me and I'll bruise. I've had my iron checked, and other blood work and it simply runs in my family. BUT, I do notice that when my diet is clean and I take plenty of vitamins I bruise much less and not as severe.

You should ask your doctor.

Is there any particular event you can recall that initially caused the bruise? Perhaps it is being perpetrated by one of your daily activities, or even your sleep habits.

For an example of this idea, I have a dent on each of my shins, at the same height, they are about 3 inches horizontal and maybe 1/2 inch deep and tall. I never noticed them until my boss pointed them out as being a trademark of an electrician.
It is caused from leaning against the next step up on a ladder.
And sometimes I'm on a ladder all day long. But even after not using a ladder at all for 2 years, I still had those dents. Now Im an electrician again.

Now, mine are not a problem really. Sometimes I notice the strain now if i stand on a ladder. But they do not bother me.

Do your bruises hurt, to touch, are sensitive to heat or cold more so than unaffected areas?
Does the area feel tough or clammy...

Not to say any of these signs indicate a problem, they may give clues to what has caused them, which may lead you to eliminating the source and getting rid of them.

I don't think you need to rush to the doctor unless its convenient for you. I would ask about it at my next physical if it was within a month or two.

Minocycline is an antibiotic used for a variety of purposes. Was it taken for a long term?
It can cause you to bruise easier than normal. You can't take multivitamins or supplements, including energy drinks that contain mineral supplements. Usually that would just cause digestive redress. I've never heard of any birth control pill that would cause this.
