Well your gonna hear gargule salt water from a million people, so here is a list of other remedies:
Take asprin for additional pain relief
Drink lots of fluids. (no soda)
Put a heating pad to your throat or compress it.
If you don't like garguling salt water, heres some alternatives:
Lemonade
Apple cider vinegar
Make sure these are heated up. Just warm not boiling hot.
Don't drink them, gargule them in your throat. you can drink them when your done or just enough to do the job
Hot tea with honey!
Gargle with warm salt water...
gargle w/ warm salty water and take tylenol .. it helps. Hope you feel better

acetaminophen or ibuprofen for the pain
lots of liquids, hot or cold, whichever feels best
pain relieving throat sprays or lozenges
If you have a high fever and/or the sore throat continues for several days after the cold symptoms are gone then see your doctor.

their kind of hard to find but if you can find any sweet lemons they work instantly and you wont have a sore throat the entire day
their usually in middle eastern markets and look just like lemons but more round and taste great!
gargle some warm water with lots of salt. put lots of ice in the mixer and add some melons (water melon or cantaloupes etc) mix it to make a freezing Slurpee looking stuff. sip on it for about 30 minutes. it will freeze your throat and will make you feel much better. trust me.
