If you aren't taking medications, are young and otherwise healthy, your chest pain may be due to anxiety.

How can anxiety cause this dull pain? Constant anxiety causes your sympathetic nervous system to put your body in the classic "fight or flight" reaction. Your adrenaline increases, your heart rate increases, you become tense. Your chest starts hurting.

Since we don't know much about you, here are some other possible causes of noncardiac chest pain that you might want to read about, just to be sure:

1. Pleurisy. The lining of the lungs becomes inflamed. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/pleuris...
2. Costochondritis. The cartilage around the ribs becomes inflamed. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/pleuris...
3. Acid reflux, heartburn, or GERD. These can cause chest pain, and anxiety can make any of these conditions worse. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/pleuris...

You are doing the correct thing by soon getting help for your anxiety. The counselor or physician who's evaluating your anxiety will be able to tell you whether you might have one of the above (or other) physical problems causing this.

I am a chronic worrier. I live with dull chest pain everyday.

yes i think my daughter has anxiety and that was the symptoms . but it will be better for you if you get a EKG. for your own piece of mind. good luck!!

I am going though the same thing. it started on Wednesday. I have been to three doctors and no one knows what is wrong with me. I have had 3 ekg's, a stress test, and given loads of blood. I am still waiting on results, but no one seems to know what is up. I have also been light headed and dizzy. I have missed work for almost a week. I am 27 so it seems like no one is taking me seriously. I don't know what else to do. I have been reaserching on my own and am concluding that I am under stress. Hope you have better luck than me.

Try taking Motrin or any kind of Ibuprofen and see if it goes away, and try drinking some chamomile tea, I like the tension tamer from celestial seasonings, it helps with the anxiety! If you're worried about heart problems and if it gets worse, go to the emergency room, that's nothing to mess around with. Good Luck and feel better!

Dull chest pain could be a symptom of many different things. Many organs and tissue are in the chest; heart, lung, gall bladder, esophagus, muscles/cartilage and anyone could be a suspect. So, too anxiety can cause actual physical symptoms. Frequently pain that worsens before or after eating or with deep breathing or movement can isolate where the pain originates and, therefore, the cause.
You didn't mention your age, however, mentioned that you work out frequently. Unfortunately, largely due to genetics, a healthy lifestyle including diet and exercise do not necessarily absolve a person from heart disease and women are being diagnosed younger and younger (even in their 30's). Also, women can have "atypical" chest pain (meaning not the sharp pain in the center of the chest type pain that we usually associate with heart problems). The bottom line is that you should go see your doctor. Examination of your symptoms and tests can rule out or help alleviate your concerns.
