The knee is a very complicated joint. There are all sorts of nerves, blood vessels, ligaments, cartilages, muscles etc. running trough a very confined space in the middle of your leg.
There are dozens of things that can go wrong in there. Some are realtively harmless and some are not.

Self-diagnosis is not possible for a layman and this Answers forum can't possibly tell you what's wrong with your knee. We could only guess, do you want to take that chance?

The fact that it's still painful after a week and the nature of the swelling has changed indicates that you must not ignore this injury any longer.

The lump is probably a consequence of the impact from when you fell. It is possible that you may not have done very serious damage but ask yourself if it's worth taking the risk.

As you now have a hard lump you may have dislodged a cartliage or cracked your kneecap (patella). If that's the case it won't go away on its own.

Go to your GP now for reassurance if nothing's wrong and, if there is damage, to get it treated.

There's no good reason for you to suffer any longer and there is no shame in having it looked at.

Best thing to do is to see your doctor and get it looked at to be on the safe side :) good luck.

I think the best advise would be to go to your local A&E and get it x-rayed and checked over... it doesn't sound too good :(

It's probably a hematoma that will eventually get reabsorbed into the body.

I would go to your local hospital for an Xray. you could have fluid on your knee, but best get checked by professional. Good Luck

Don't waste your time on here telling us about it - get to your nearest A&E department and let the experts have a look at it ! ! !

somethign like this happened to me and i went to the doctors. Mine ended up being broken but idk about yours i would go to the doctors just to be safe.
