Headache won't go away?!

Question: I've had a constant headache for about three or four days now (I often get headaches, but usually sleep or pain pills solve the problem). This time, sleep isn't helping, nor are the pills. I admit I'm a complete hypochondriac and I'm beginning to have panic attacks because I think I'm going to die....

I'm trying my best to be rational, however, so I want to know if headaches (all over the head, and a little tension in the neck + shoulders) could be related to eye strain. I'm desperately in need of a new prescription, plus I'm always reading or staring at a screen, so I thought that could be the most likely culprit (my eyes are always tired as well). Also, I have TMJ problems. Someone please tell me these are logical conclusions and that I'm not dying of a brain tumor. :(

a few things could be to blame here. yes, stress can cause major headaches. as can eye strain both from reading, and staring at a screen. TMJ can cause severe pain. but, what you may not be thinking of that could be the biggest culprit is the pain pills. yes. the pain pills. what most people don't realize is, even when taken as directed, pain medication can cause what are know as 'rebound headaches.' and if the original headache doesn't completely go away the first time, then the rebound may seem like the original. everything just kind of runs together. i've been suffering with migraines since age 11. i had tried everything, and this is what works best for me:

what you need to do is: go into a cool, quiet, dark room. lay down on your back. get as comfortable as possible. place your hand on your belly. now, focus on your breathing. exhale as deeply as comfortably possible. feel your hand drop down. now, inhale as deeply, and slowly as comfortably as possible. feel your hand rise. focus on the air moving through your lungs. filling your body with fresh oxygen. removing the carbon dioxide as you exhale. repeat the slow exhale and inhale pattern. when you have the pattern down, (i usually slowly count to 10 on each rep so that i don't go too fast) you can start thinking of a relaxing place. it may be the ocean, a forest, a campfire... just where ever you feel the most relaxed. continue to breathe in and out slowly, and visualize yourself in this relaxing place. do this for 7-10 minutes. then see how your head is feeling. you can place a warm pack under your shoulders/neck and a cool pack on your forehead if you would like. that also helps.

this has worked wonders for me. i didn't think it was worth it and thought it would never work until my therapist had me try it in her office one day. it was wonderful! my headache was almost completely gone in 6 minutes!!! also, if you get headaches frequently, 1, have your glasses prescription checked, and 2, ask about putting you on a preventative medication like topamax, so you can function daily without headaches. i just read your additional details, and as far as the menstral headaches, they also make medication specifically for those too. my doc gave me some to try this month, since my migraines have developed a new pattern. i have heard a lot of good things about it, so i'm hoping it's as good as they say it is. you may want to ask about it too.
good luck , and feel better soon.

THIS IS GUARENTEED this time of year it has to be a sinus HA go to drug store and get SinuCleanse (looks like tea pot) will get all pollens out and give you instant relife

Sounds like a stress related headache more you worrie and stress more it will stay, try relexing and dont worry if you had a brain tumor you would know, you might also need glasses? :)

From your description i could tell that your real realy tired. It could be many reasons!

1.Tv,computer etc..
2.Stress
3.Bad sleep ( commun )
4.Sleep disorder (rare)

you may have a sinus headache. you could be having migranes. or you may try some tylonel extra strenth. they seem to work. I use them for my sinus headaches.

There are so many different causes for headaches that it's hard to do anything other than randomly speculate. Almost all the causes are benign, and in many cases no obvious cause can be found.

If you are prone to headaches, and this headache feels like the kind you often have, it's probably harmless, even if it lasts longer than usual. Also, if you are prone to headaches, any other type of illness may be more likely to produce a headache as one of its symptoms
