What is causing my left leg to ache and hurt for the past 3 days?!

Question: I am a 38 year old female. My job puts me on my feet about 60% of the time. I had a very busy day this past Tuesday and ever since then my left leg has been really bothering me. I can only describe it as this nagging "toothache" pain from the heal of my foot all the way up to the base of my rear-end. Just generally hurts all over and the skin almost seems sore to the touch. It does not look swollen and I did not hurt myself. Any ideas?

It may be a pinched nerve in your back or sciatica. Even though the pressure is in the back the pain travels down the length of the nerve to the foot fairly commonly. Rx with rest, local heat, motrin and tincture of time. If it gets worse you will need an xray or MRI.

Have you been drinking enough water? A lot of leg pain is associated with not drinking enough water. Drink away!

When in a prostate position such as you described, there is mass blood flow over a period of time to the lower abdomen and from there into the legs. If you have not been excersing those areas anytime recently, then it is very difficult for your heart to pump the blood with enough pressure to overcome the gravity on the way back up from your lower extremeties. I would advise rest of course and from there some stretching of the muscles and if possible massaging to induce blood flow out of those areas. As there is stagnant blood there, you should expect some redness and soreness, as well as "pain" from the lactic acid that your muscles produce. Vitamins as well as adequate water should help remedy the situation somewhat but the best solution is simply rest to allow the body time to recuperate.
