Neck pain a result of old injuries?!

Question: I've had at least three occasions in which I have gotten whiplash (note that I said "at least"). The last two times were winter of '06 and summer of '07, and once summer of '06. The last time was the most painful. I was playing a game in which I was attached to a bungee cord on an inflatable game and you had to get as far as you could. Although I was instructed by the operators on how to prevent whiplash when I was pulled back, I didn't do it right, so I was yanked back hard (I felt my neck jerk really hard) and I hit the back wall between my neck and right shoulder. By the next day, I couldn't move my neck or arm nearly at all because of the pain for about 3 days and I felt severe pain for about a week in total. I never saw a doctor. After that, I find that I sometimes have neck pain, my chronic back pain has worsened, and my neck cracks easily when it never could before at all. It has been about 8 months since it happened. My parents won't let me see a chiropractor. Any suggestions?

Wow, sounds to me like you have done some serious damage that has already gone too long without proper treatment. Your health isn't something to take lightly and will only get worse with age. Take a proactive stance, find a physical therapist and contact them yourself. It is unfair for your parents to control your health. A physical therapist will be able to teach you some great exercises to strengthen your back and alleviate pain. Also, have a look at this great website dedicated to stretching. Sometimes we forget the adverse affects stretching has on injury prevention and treatment.

I hope this helps and please see a professional who can get you the help you need to avoid potentially serious issues in the future!

Am surprised you haven't seen a doctor all these years. You should really consider seeing one, to prevent your injuries from causing more damage. Am sure you don't want your condition to get worse.

Good luck!
