Keep them at home from school or daycare.. It is very contagious. Try to keep the child from rubbing their eye. As always, be meticulous about handwashing.

My Mom would take me to the doctor who would then prescribe drops for my eyes. Your child needs some kind of antibiotic whether from his doctor or over-the-counter.

Pink eye can be viral or bacterial. A Dr. usually can determine which one. I've had both as an adult and it is not fun! It took me over 3 weeks to get rid of it, only to be reinfected. Warm compresses can sooth. And using the eyedrops can keep the eye from crusting shut.

You can buy multipurpose solution for contact lenses. It contains Boric acid and emollients. Instill a couple of drops in both eyes 4 times a day for 3 days. It will clear it up immediately.

It may burn because of the pink eye, but it doesn't normally. If it seems too weird, do it to your own eyes first.

I use it in mine, my kids, family, dogs, etc. never had a problem.

just like the person above, i thought you needed prescription eye drops and lots of handwashing too.

oh...and wipe down things (countertops, toys etc.) that might have carried the germs with isopropyl alcohol to prevent infecting anyone else. try not to touch your eyes!!! :)
