Does cracking your knuckles cause any types of long term problems in your joints!

Question: When you crack any joint bone, you are not actually do anything to the bone. The cracking sound you hear is cartlidge popping. [cartlidge is the protective later between bones if you didn't know].

If you continue to "crack your knuckles" all the way through your life, then you will probably end up with no cartlidge left. No that won't happen but it's just not good to do it. But no, they cannot damage your bones unless you wear away your cartlidge.

I read a medical report last year saying that it does not do any damage. But I'm sure someone will come out with another report saying that it does. Who do you believe??

The report I read did say that when you crack your knuckles, what's actually happening is that little pockets of air form in the joints, and the cracking sound you hear if the air pockets breaking... like popping sheets of packing bubbles. If that's really the case, then you're not doing anything to your joints at all, which would lead to the theory that doing it isn't bad.

So you don't have to read the long probably boring answer above. I'll tell you the answer to your question in these few words. Yes. Arthiritis. (the swelling of the joints)

Yeah probably arthritis .....

yeah arthritis and when you get old your bones are going to start hurting

NO actually it DOESNT cause arthritis, silly heads!!! i hav a buk on arthritis nd it sez it DOESNT cause arthritis so HA!!!

After years of knuckle cracking a person will have ugly big knuckles and crooked fingers. I saw a picture once, and it didn't look pretty. I don't know if it causes arthritis, by the way, that's caused by under cooked pork (it's really pig-itis).

Try squeezing a ball instead of cracking your knuckles. Or try to do it less and less until you can get rid of the habit (habit reversal).

i don't know if this is one but causes arthritis
