Foot problem.... Need some help?!

Question: Okay, I dropped my laptop on my foot last night. It happened around 5 pm and it is now 9 am the next day. My foot hurts really bad still. The laptop is not one of the new fancy light weight ones. This one feels like 10 pounds.
Has anyone ever dropped something on the top of their foot? Did you go see a Dr or did it get better?
I'm pregnant so I would like to avoid a X-ray.

Thanks for your help.

Your concern about a foot x-ray during pregnancy is unwarrented, actually. I would go see a doctor for an evaluation. If a doctor is worried about a break in one of the bones of your foot, a x-ray can be safely done on you. X-rays do not fly all willy nilly around a room. They are highly concentrated and directed beams of radiation, which expose only the area of interest. Your abdomen would receive very little, if any, radiation at all.

The following is from a website which has questions answered by qualified medical personel, who are experts in radiation and it's effects. Here is what I found:

"QUESTION: I found out about four months ago that I was pregnant and I need an x ray on my ankle. Will the radiation affect the baby?

ANSWER: X rays of your ankle or foot, performed with modern technology, will deliver a negligible dose of radiation to your unborn baby. The dose will be too small to measure. It will be substantially less than the dose you (and every person) receive each day from natural environmental radiation.

Conclusion: There is no reason for concern regarding x rays of your ankle.

However, it is very likely that a medical doctor can rule out a fracture, just by a clinical examination of your foot, so x-rays may not be needed. Best wishes....
