Does anyone else feel their pain is massively undertreated?!

Question: I have had serious leg pain for a few years. I finally saw my dr. about it, he did a bone scan which revealed severe degenerative arthritis and major knee alignment problems on both sides. So he gave me an anti inflammatory drug and sent me to a specialist in ortho. The ortho dr. gave me very painful steriod shots in my legs, which only made things hurt worse. Now as I sit up all the time rocking back and forth in agony, I wonder if either dr is taking this seriously enough, or if these are just the standard treatments for these problems. I went to the dr in the first place because I had tried every over the counter pain reliever for years with no luck, and worsening pain.
I mean, I understand docs are scared to prescribe pain meds, but should I just wait a few weeks for the steroid shots to hopefully work (which is unbearable) or find another dr?

I'm crying for you because I am feeling the same as you right now. I am in so much pain and my doc thinks for sure all I want is to get high. I don't think I could. I just hurt too much. I try heat and cold and i even have an electric blanket not just a heating pad. I have gone to physical therapy, had traction. deep massage, ultrasound heat and electric stimuli, none worked and omg the traction really hurt!
I tell him that 2 Vicodin do not work and he is like what do you mean they do not work. I tell him Tramadol just makes me feel wasted and does not help the pain and he is like oh well use Aleeve. There goes my stomach and liver.
I have asked for a referral to a pain specialist. I hope it helps.

Also and I know this might not go over well, It did not with me the first time I heard it but one night I was desperate enough to try it and it did buy me a few hours of sleep. Masturbation, when you orgasm your body releases chemicals that react with your brain the same way opiates do. I am not telling you this to make fun at all I am just trying to think of any Little thing that might help as one sufferer to another. GL

change doctors.. in the mean time you can ask your dr. to give you Piroxicam(for Feldine)20mg .it is for pain . It really works
