I used HRT for several years, to deal with terrible night sweats. The pros are that the night sweats stop immediately and your concentration seems better. The cons are that it is thought to cause cancer and you will have periods for as long as you take it.

I was on HRT for two years. I did get breast cancer twice. When I went down for my first operation, the anaesthetist said "Another one who took HRT? I wouldn't let my wife take it."

However if you are having a terrible time with night sweats etc. then perhaps it is worth the risk. Make sure that your G.P. tests your hormone levels before prescribing it. I had always had high levels of oestregen and was never tested before it was prescribed. My tumours were both oestregen receptor positive.

this is a very complicated issue and depends on so many factors it is absolutely impossible to give you a meaningful answer to your question. age, medical diseases, prior surgeries, lab tests, family history, too many things to consider and you supplied zero info in your question.
in addition, the research is changing all the time. you should schedule a consult with a gynecologist who is well informed on HRT. just because they are a gynecologist does not mean that they are up to date on the facts, believe me.
