My head is pounding from the airplane, what could it be?!

Question: I came from Tampa to home today and right before we were landing, my head went CRAZY as it became instantly sore, where I couldn't even touch it as my fingers felt like needles to my head, and it feels like I broke every bone in my head. In my ear, I have a lot of pain, the top of my head feels like a headache, and the whole back of my head is so pounding. What could this be? I have tried everything from taking Asprin, IBU, using heating pads, and trying to sleep it off. What should I do?

The folks are right above who tell you it's a pressure/ ear pop thing. The thing is, nobody said what to do about it.

First, if you're prone to congestion, bring some Sudafed along on plane rides. That will open up your sinuses.

Second, you need to learn how to equalize the pressure in your ears. It's easy. Just pinch your nose closed, and try to breathe out of your nose at the same time (gently). The pressure will back up, and actually push through your sinuses to your ear drums.

This should release the built up pressure, and keep you from feeling the pain on landing. Wiggling your jaw/ chewing gum will also help a little (but never helped for me)

Jet Lag....

It is called a 'Doctor' go to your regular one and ask for a appointment.

the altitude got you just take aspirin

Your supposed to chew gum on a airplane so your ears dont pop, which eventually leads to headaches and bodyaches .

that sucks. The same happened to me 3 years ago. You try chewing gum. Chewing gum can help deal with the pain caused from airplane pain. May sound weird, but it works. You could try intense tension headache.

air pressure

Pressure changes, your ears are plugged and can't equalize. It's called airplane ear, look it up at www.mayoclinic.com. You may need to see a doctor.

Pressure changes are wreaking havoc on your head.
Imagine being in the water. At the surface as you float, all is well. Now, try diving deep into the water to the bottom some 20 feet below. If you will notice, the pressure gets a little intense and you can really feel it in your ears.
The same is true with airtravel. The atmosphere is thinner at higher altitudes and the pressure is reduced. This is why your ears pop as you ascend.
When the plane descends, the pressure comes rushing back and some of us (me included) do not deal well with pressure changes. It will pass.

go the accident and emergency you should not still have pain after getting home i assume you are back home? you could have damaged your eardrums, get it checked out asap.
