Question: It is on her thigh closer to her knee than her upper thigh. It looks like a lot of pressure has been applied. She did just have surgery to three weeks ago to remover her appendix. Don't know if that is related or not.

I would have it checked out but if it's not swollen, if there is no motor or nerve dysfunction, if there is no redness or pain - it's not an emergency. But it's still a good idea to ask what is going on. Does there appear to be any bite marks? Do you have access to a camera? I'd be okay taking a look. Email me if you are still concerned.
