Why don't more States do this?!
Question: I heard that Massachusetts (and perhaps soon California), will be testing universal health care with varying degrees of private involvement. Do you think this is wonderful? Temporary or test laws (I don't know what they're called, please inform me if you know) are COOL because if something isn't quite right, the law can be modified or nixed if it succks. Why don't more states do this or do we first look to examples for success?

I have been a strong believer in Universal Health Care for a while now....It should be offered to a country as a whole, not certain states in my opinion. But then again, if they are actually considering this, i don't care who gets it first.....as long as we all get it following the "trial period" or whatever...LET'S DO it!!!

So for the guy down there ....illegal aliens are a completely different topic....another issue that America needs to get a hold on.....but that isn't the topic here.
What harm would it do to be healthy and happier the short time we are on this earth?
Being a mother of 2 i seriously worry what kind of health care my children or grandchildren will be enduring in their future at this rate. IF this country doesn't get their act together and get healthier and get smart enough to stop taking all these illegal/prescription meds like candy,not to mention all these backward doctors..... we will never improve. WE need to stop being so MONEY hungry and take care of each other is all i am saying.

I think it's a good idea, but the insurance companies will go apeshit. And they hold a lot of power.
Look at the mess Canada is in... no thank you.
Just ask the Canadians whether their health care system works. Now tell me how well does your State government handle the basic needs of the citizen like fixing roads, providing better service at the Department of Motor Vehicle, providing basic social services; not welfare, but the care they provide when there is a disaster.
If the government is too incompetent to do the basic need, why do they want to get their grimy hands into providing or restricting health care? Unofficially, California have universal health care, that worked SOOOOOOO well that many county hospitals are closing because the illegal aliens are abusing it and the county government can't pay because the State government will not support them.
Oh don't even start saying that ILLEGAL ALIENS are only Mexicans, they are not, there are others too.
I think it would be a good idea, but I'm afraid it will all come down to the bottom line... insurance companies are all about making a profit as are doctors and hospitals.
here in CT, alot of doctors and hospitals are pulling out of medicaid because they dont make enough $$$
should be interesting to see how Mass does.
