If you know the ankles are broken...you have obviously been seen by & are being treated by a doctor, right?
.
With two broken ankles your husband will be off his feet for a while, so if you will be his primary care-giver at home....I'm sure the doctor has discussed your husband's home care with both you and your husband.
That being the case...just follow the doctor's instructions.

If there is something you don't understand, call your doctor's office and talk to his nurse or the doctor.
.
Additional remarks:

Well, your husband would have been given some pain medication at the hospital and it would have already started working before they set his ankles and released him to go home. Otherwise this would have been too painful to stand.
If he is taking additional pain medications as directed by his doctors he should be managing his pain as well as can be expected.
Some pain is to be expected dispite the pain medication during the first weeks whenever the legs are moved.
About all you can do is keep him comfortable as possible.

He should see a doctor for treatment, including pain medications. In the meantime, you can try using ice to reduce swelling, along with an over the counter pain medication like tylenol or ibuprofin.

love can reduce pain psychologically!!!!!! NO madam only pain killers will help..ask ur doctor
