Would you pay the co-pay for an appointment today when you had taken your child !

Question: we had taken our 11 month old to the doctor last week and they told us there was nothing they could do because it was just a cold; so we have to go back today because her spiked a fever of 101.8 early this morning.

Do you think we should tell them we aren't going to pay the co-pay today because of it being their mistake or should we just bite the bullet? What do you think?

Friends of ours have told us not to pay for today and to tell them we aren't going to pay because it was their screw-up and we are the ones that had to juggle things around to get him back in today.

No bashing negitivity idiotic or retarded remarks please, if you can't leave a positive response then just move on. Thank you.

Talk to to them about this...let them know the details, and your feelings regarding this matter...generally a finance manager can be swayed if you are reasonable in your request...

I would say bite the bullet. Colds can cause fevers and a fever is a sign the body is fighting an infection. Being this is your child I would just want them to get seen. It is hard to diagnose young children when they can't speak and all the doctor can do is go by what he sees and hears.
I don't blame you for being upset and I know it is frustrating juggling a schedule around but make it easy on yourself and not hassle a copay.

having to pay the co pay is part of your health insurance... you still have to pay it .. even though you really shouldn't have too.. ask your doctor if they will not make you pay it this time due to him just being there last week.. . hopefully they will take it off your bill.... good luck to you...

Last week your son's symptoms might have just been a cold, but this week developed into a fever. The MD can only use his intuition when diagnosing a little guy who can't describe how he feels.

I would just pay the copay, it is part of the contract you have between your insurance company & the MD. I know it can be hard, but you want the best for your baby.

I hope he feels better soon. It's so sad & frustrating when a baby is sick.

If the doctor is cool about it he may let it slide today, it just depends. It's worth asking about for sure unless your co-pay is like 5 or 10 bucks. I know some can be a lot higher so just mention it to the doctor and see what he thinks.

Pay the copay...

this is an insurance issue, really.

There will be records your son was there...and they do this to c.t.a.

If you don't pay, more then likely it will be billed to your insurance, your insurace will see you paid no copay, and then will charge you.

Just pay the $20 or whatever the copay is...and be thankful for insurance.

Had to do this all the time dealing with stupid offices when my daughter was sick in the beginning.

Also, mine had a cold and there was nothing I could do at that point, but a couple days later she spiked a fever and infants can get sick quickly....

this is not the Dr.'s fault, it is a illness that progressed.

i don't think anyone has "screwed up"...last week your child had a cold without a fever....this week your child developed a fever...last week there was nothing more to be done for your child's cold....even this week just because your child has a fever there could be nothing more to do than treat the fever and let the cold run its course...the doctor will check your child's ears and throat and lungs again....sorry, but every visit to the doctor requires payment...I do not agree at all with your friends comments...to blame your physicians for anything in this case seems bashing, negatively idiotic, and retarded....yes, juggling to make time for a doctors visit is frustrating, but part of parenthood....stay positive, hope your child feels better soon!

Your co-pay is actually a contract between you and your insurance company and the doctors office really has little to do with it.

I understand being upset because your child was just there last week. However, a temp 101.8 is really considered a low grade fever and some children's mortin or tylenol will take care of it. It is simply a sign that the body is fighting an infection that is probably viral and antibiotic cannot cure.

Sorry to hear you little one is sick

You HAVE to pay the co pay...plain and simple.
