What if a friend of mine ate raw Fish?!

Question: Tonight, as I was cooking, I was making some fried fish, and I made a fish sauce to go with it...I did not cook the raw fish sauce. I went out and when I came back my friend took the sauce put it on some rice, and cooked it on the microwave...it was very raw...should she be worried? should she go to the Hosiptal?

Sometimes fish can be eaten raw. I wouldn't recommend it though; just keep an eye on her.

How can fish sauce be raw?

Its sauce right unless it had actual fish in it....
No she shouldnt be worried unless the fish had parasites and a high levels of mercury

What do you think Shushi is?

Raw fish...

Many types of fish are ok to eat raw, if you have the taste for it. Its probably not a good idea though, if you don't know what kind it is. Or how it was prepared.

* Back in the '20's the college kids would see who could swallow the most live goldfish. Far as I know, noone ever died of it.

SOME raw fish can be eaten....but they are few....many have salmonella which can be deadly if not treated. Still, it's not too urgent of a thing....usually if someone eats raw fish they'll get flu like symptoms for about 24 hours or so....violent vomiting and diarrhea sometimes accompanied by fever...if it lasts more than a day or two, THEN go to a doctor and get the antibiotic for it. It's not something that's likely to kill anybody fast...unless they're quite old or quite young or already unhealthy. Some people can even kick the bacteria without any help from antibiotics.
